All About Bushwick Film Festival 2020

2020 has been a rollercoaster, and for me, the light at the end of the tunnel is just a couple of weeks away! 

The Bushwick Festival is the event I’ve been waiting for all year and this year’s premiere is on October 21 and will go on till October 25! 

Being an entrepreneur is difficult, but add in a female, a person of color, the pandemic, and the black lives matter movement to that mix, it all began to feel too heavy. In the midst of it all, I really hoped that I would be able to get the festival to the other side and continue to share moving stories. 

After multiple sponsors didn’t return, I felt discouraged. But these setbacks only made me and more determined. Thanks to a lot of hard work, the PPP, a few grants, my staff and an amazing group of volunteers we are still on track to debut right on schedule!  

Putting on the festival was extra important this year because storytelling is incredibly critical during these times, especially when the world feels so bleak. I couldn’t be prouder of my team, all the volunteers, sponsors, alumni, and artists who have made this festival possible. Our ability to produce the festival is a true testament to our love for storytelling. 

This year’s theme is "transformation" and it’s all about celebrating filmmakers for reminding us of our inherent courage and perseverance through their characters, volunteers for graciously giving their time, and 2020 for allowing us to emerge as a better global community.
